Who would say no to choco chip cookies?! This is the ultimate cookie that has transcended through time since the 1930s. Now, whether or not the story of how choco chip cookies were accidentally created was true, we choco chip cookie lovers have Ruth Graves Wakefield to thank!

The beauty of choco chip cookies is that you can customize it to suit your tastes. Garnish it with sea salt to balance the sweetness or throw in some toasted nuts for an added crunch. Personally, if it’s chocolate chips, it has to be chewy! I love biting into a warm cookie that’s crisp and golden on the edges but soft and chewy right in the centre.
Here are some tips that I learned from my extensive YouTube research:
Melt that butter.
Take away that baking powder. As the saying goes, “Powder puffs. Soda spreads”.
Add in more brown sugar than white sugar.
Chill the batter for at least 20-30 minutes so that it is easier to scoop.
So why am I adding tahini? Actually, tahini is quite similar to peanut butter and we all know peanut butter goes perfectly with chocolate. So why not? And guess what? These are the bomb dot com! The choco chip cookies are already sweet but it balances well with the tahini, which is savoury and nutty.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
That Dry Stuff
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup unbleached bread flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon powder
The Flavour Stuff
1 /2cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup tahini
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg and 1 egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 - 2 cups chopped chocolates (a mix of semi-sweet and milk chocolates)
Instructions:
1. LET'S WORK ON THAT DRY STUFF! In a bowl sift the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon powder. Stir and 1et this baby aside.
2. Now it's time to move on to the reason we're making these. In a larger bowl, combine the melted butter, tahini, brown sugar, and white sugar. Mix until you get a caramel syrup consistency. We're going to call her faux caramel.
3. Mix in the vanilla extract, egg and egg yolk with your faux caramel. Boom! This is the wet stuff.
4. Add in the dry stuff with the wet stuff. Use a spatula to mix them BUT don’t over mix. You want to see some patches of dry stuff here and there.
5. Pour in the main attraction, those chopped chocolates! You want everyone to be friends, so mix and fold that dough.
6. Scoop the cookie dough unto a baking sheet at least for 20 minutes.
7. Preheat the oven to 330°F / 165°C.
8. Take out the chilled cookie dough and let them bake for 12-15 minutes.
9. When they're done, let them cool on the tray for 3 minutes before moving them to a wire rack. Dance along to Money Bags while you wait.
10. Dip that chewy and scrumptious cookie into that ice-cold glass of milk. Enjoy!
